WOW...what a thrilled I am sure it was to visit the place where your dad had trained. Looks like they kept the place in its original form.
ReplyDeleteActually the barracks are gone, but the museum was located in the only concrete building on the base...the brig.
DeleteI find it hard to believe that the government trained their Naval personal in Idaho. Then again they do lots of things that I can't believe they are doing.

They were concerned about the Japanese right after Pearl Harbor and this location was so far off the beaten path it was almost a secret base.

ReplyDeleteExactly and because of the depth of the lake at Farragut there is still a sonar testing and development facility on the lake.
