Mission Texas

After a couple of hard driving days Mel is safely back in Mission Texas and snuggled into his space for the winter. The rest of the summer travel will be done in the Fiesta. One unpleasant event between Gallup and Bosque on I-40 in New Mexico, I had an encounter with a thrown tread (also known as a gator). It jumped up and bit Mel's underside. I didn't think any damage was done when I first surveyed the underside, but the next morning when trying to fill the fresh water tank the water went straight to the ground. Apparently there is now a hole in the fresh water tank. A further assessment will have to be made. I'll wait until I ready to depart for this expense, after all why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

I expect to be in Mission a week or two before continuing my summer travels. This will give me time to review travel plans and schedule accommodations.

  1. On my rig it was the tank drain line that hangs under the trailer that got busted. 8$ at Lowes and a bout five minutes and it was repaired. Good luck.

    1. You know everything here is...later, and it's even slower in the summer.

  3. Barney already suggested the low point drain. Hopefully the tank itself was not compromised.

    It's about time.

    1. That's my hope too. At 100 degrees I think I'll wait until fall to further check things out.

  4. Hope it's not a real serious problem but waiting till it cools down is the right thing to do. Jim is done working on anything outside at 8:00 a.m.

    1. A heat stroke probably wouldn't fix things, would it?

  5. There are repair kits for holes in water tanks, aren't there? I'd think a good solid patch would do the trick and you'd be ready to go. Hopefully it will be that easy. :)

    1. I thin there are, but I think I knocked off the drain hose. I'm sure it's fixable, but I'll save it for a later time.

  6. Gorilla Tape! That's always a good approach.
